Watching and felting, not carved in stone.

This piece emerged while I was doing a demo at the West End Studio Tour. I wanted to do a wall hanging piece and the idea of a full size head appealed to me. I was striving for the look of marble or white stone. I like the idea of a piece made from felt, which is soft, with the look of a stone piece. "Not carved in Stone" was a theme I used for a series of gargoyles.

The hair presented a challenge, but finally the idea of semi-dreadlocks seemed to work. I didn't want a curly or fluffy look.
